"Paladino" is a completely restored old farmhouse, located in the "Villa Carrara" park. The Carrara property, entirely under the supervision of the Monuments and Fine Arts Office due to its historical and scenic value, covers 50 hectares between the towns of Gragnano and S. Martino in Colle. The property includes the villa, which belonged to a famous nineteenth century Lucca criminal lawyer, Francesco Carrara, along with various groups of farmhouses, land cultivated with grapes, olives and fruit trees and a large wooded park. Located at the edge of the park, in front of the farmhouse rises "Il Quercione", a 500-year-old oak tree that is one of the oldest and largest in Italy. "Il Quercione" is noted for its large span in a most unusual shape that attracts nature lovers from all over Italy.
